A polished shopping day needs more than appointments. Plan eligibility, paperwork, fittings, collection and delivery before the first boutique.

Build a useful brief before the route

Share sizes, preferred houses, colours, categories, budget range and the occasions the purchases must serve. Note any exact references separately from broader discovery. This lets the personal shopper prepare a focused route rather than a list of famous addresses.

Scarce stock, private appointments and allocations remain controlled by each retailer. A good brief improves relevance; it does not turn a request into guaranteed inventory.

Ask the retailer about tax-free eligibility

Tax-free shopping is a retailer and customs process, not a discount promised by a concierge. Eligibility depends on the traveller, goods, transaction and current French rules. Present the required identity and residence documents to the retailer and check the form before leaving the store.

The retailer or refund operator should explain validation, refund method, fees and what happens if goods are shipped or altered. Keep purchase documents accessible for departure formalities and follow the current instructions of French Customs.

Plan fittings and alterations as part of the day

Made-to-measure, couture and even straightforward hemming can require more than one appointment. Confirm fitting duration, completion date, alteration cost and whether the garment can be collected before departure.

For valuable or delicate pieces, establish who authorises irreversible work and how the item will be stored between appointments. A chauffeur can simplify movements, but tailoring timelines still belong to the atelier or retailer.

Separate hotel delivery from international shipping

Same-day hotel delivery, later collection and insured international shipping are different services with different responsibilities. Confirm recipient name, hotel handling rules, declared value, insurance, customs documents, duties and the party responsible for loss or damage.

PARVIP can coordinate the handover and specialist providers, while the seller, carrier and insurer remain responsible for their own terms. High-value items should not move on an informal promise.

Keep one purchase record

Record seller, item description, price, payment, collection status, warranty, authenticity documents, return terms and delivery reference in one place. For watches, jewellery, handbags and art, photograph documents and condition with the seller’s permission.

The result is a calmer shopping experience and a cleaner departure: every item is either with the client, securely stored or moving under a documented delivery plan.
